Sattu is popular in a drink in North India in summer and is known for its health properties.  Often considered a poor man's protein in India, it is different from besan or gramflour in that this is from roasted chickpeas. And usually the black skinned ones.

    Sattu has around 22.5gms of protein per 100gms. More than eggs which have around 13gms per 100gms.  Sattu also contains most of the essential amino acids. And it has a low glycemic index. 

    It is versatile and can be used in drinks or as a flour substute for gluten free flour.
